Kāpiti, Friday 25 October 2019 - The Kāpiti Coast Chamber of Commerce has elected a new Chair and Board at its 2019 Annual General Meeting, held on the 23 October at Kāpiti Coast Airport.
Jacinda Thorn is the new Board Chair, and is joined by Sam Pritchard, Deputy Chair, Henry Kruger, Treasurer and Heather Hutchings is stepping into Secretary position.
Jacinda Thorn, the owner of Thorn PR, says she’s excited to evolve the Chamber after 12 months of rapid growth.
“Our new Partnerships Programme, introduced just one year ago has exceeded our expectations. We aimed to have ten partners at the end of the year but are entering 2020 with 12. Their support has enabled the Chamber to grow and offer more to our members.
“I’m excited to elevate our events programme and will work to engage a new section of our business community. Around 25% of workers in Kapiti are self-employed and are taking their services and skills to the world; we also have some amazing companies on the Coast led by the next generation, and I want our Chamber to be more reflective of our business community,” says Jacinda Thorn.
Sam Pritchard is part of Ōtaki-based Land Matters. As Deputy-Chair, he’s looking forward to working with key stakeholders.
“I want to continue to provide value and support for our members and Kapiti businesses by leveraging off our relationship with other businesses, WellingtonNZ and the Kāpiti Coast District Council,” says Sam Pritchard.
Henry Kruger, the owner of Kāpiti IT company Click Quick, is the new Treasurer.
“I’m looking keen to work with local businesses to help them understand the relevance of the Chamber, and how we can help them grow,” says Henry Kruger.
Heather Hutchings, outgoing Chair, says she’s proud of what the Board has been able to achieve under her leadership.
“We’ve been able to grow the Chamber’s profile through our advocacy work and have taken on significant issues for our business community. Introducing the Partnership Model has breathed new life into the Chamber and continues to grow, and our Board has worked collaboratively towards our mission, which is A strong collective voice for business in Kāpiti,” says Heather Hutchings.
The Kāpiti Coast Chamber of Commerce exists to advance the economy by creating wealth and employment and solve local business issues by providing a collective voice for business in Kāpiti.
