Creative Communities Scheme backs flourishing Kāpiti art scene

Kāpiti Coast District Council has awarded $22,904.40 to nine local art projects through the latest round of the Creative Communities Scheme.

The Scheme, which is funded by Creative New Zealand and Council, allocates grants twice a year to support arts activities that celebrate Kāpiti culture and showcase the region’s diversity, particularly Toi Māori/Māori Arts.

The Hon Jenny Salesa, Minister for Building and Construction, met with Kāpiti Coast District Council Chief Executive Wayne Maxwell and the Council Building Team early this week to discuss their submission to MBIE’s consultation around proposed building system legislative reform. Minister Salesa said that MBIE received nearly 500 submissions during the consultation.

Kapiti Food Fair nearly closed for vendor registration and announces celebrity guest

The Kapiti Food Fair opened for vendor registration back in April and sites have been snapped up quickly.  The total site footprint this year is increasing to 230+ and there are less than 10 sites left!  “We are delighted with the mix of returning and new vendors and there is definitely something for everyone,” says Fair owners Helene Judge and Jeanine van Kradenburg.
